Maximo Marina Sees $25m Upgrade With Golden Boat Lifts

Maximo Marina is sited on St. Petersburg, Florida’s quiet southwest side, in the Skyway Marina District. The historic harbor is going through a multi-phase, $25M renovation. The overhaul includes revised infrastructure and a slip reconfiguration with state-of-the-art 4-Post Boat Lifts from market leader Golden Boat Lifts.

The reconstruction will include 210 wet slips for boats up to 110′. Covered marinas are a rarity in Florida and 75% of Maximo Marina will have this convenience, including the slips for the largest vessels. During the first phase, Houston-based Orion Marine Group is installing 26 Golden 4-Post Boat Lifts with 20,000 lb. capacities, and six units that will handle up to 24,000 lbs. Phase two will see an additional 24 lifts added in 2018.

Marinas like Maximo need durable and reliable equipment that’s built to perform for the long haul. Unlike many of its competitors’ products, Golden’s 4-Post lifts are fully welded for lasting structural integrity. Commercial-grade materials, such as durable 6061 T6 marine-grade aluminum, and 300 series stainless steel cables and hardware, are chosen for their strength and superior corrosion-resistance in harsh environments.

Even the boat lift drive motors used at Maximo Marina are industry benchmarks. With double reduction gearing, Golden Sea-Drives® are so reliable that in over 18,000 manufactured, not one has ever failed.

“Golden Boat Lifts is an established company,” said Lee Hicks, Maximo Marina general manager. “They have an excellent reputation for follow-up service.”

In addition to the 210 slips, Maximo Marina boasts dry stack storage for an additional 300 vessels. The facility has new and used boat sales, and a complete service yard with 50-ton Travelift. The protected harbor is built on a natural freshwater spring, so barnacles don’t pose quite the problem that they do elsewhere. Its website is www.igy-maximomarina.com.
